Trust. The firm belief in the reality, truth, ability or strength of someone or something. Having faith and confidence in someone or something. Trust is one of the single most important traits of a Championship Team. @Team13System we trust each other and are worthy of each other’s trust. We are honest, good people, who do things the right way in everything we do. When you do things right, and you do them with people who you can trust – you can become a Champion!

Effort. In business, in sports, in academics, in life – wins and losses come a dime a dozen. What really matters is Effort. When you give maximum effort, and when you associate yourself with others who give maximum effort – you can become a Champion!

All Heart. The heart is defined as the essential or most vital part of something. Any successful business, organization or individual has to be All Heart. And when you have a team full of hearts beating as one – you cannot be stopped. When you operate your business, play sports, learn, and live life with All Heart – you can become a Champion!

Mental Toughness. Nothing worth accomplishing in business, sports, academics or Life is easy. If it was easy, it wouldn’t be fun. Life is full of challenging moments – adversity – unlucky turns of events – defeats – failures. Often times the pressure can be enormous. Those who are mentally tough understand that true success can only be born out of failure. Mentally tough individuals not only believe, but they know that there is a way. Mentally tough businesses, organizations and individuals embrace adversity and overcome it. When you are mentally tough – you can become a Champion!

Teamwork. True long-term success in business, athletics, academics and Life can only be maximized as part of a team. Nothing is meaningful in the long run when done alone. If you are able to put aside your ego, your natural tendency to be selfish, and to commit yourself to being a part of a true team – you can become a Champion!

Hard Work. Greatness is not given. Greatness is taken. You have to prepare for Greatness – and there are no short cuts. You have to work hard at it. If you are willing to commit to prepare and put in the hard work – you can become a Champion!

Integrity. A firm adherence to a code of moral values. Synonymous with honesty, decency, goodness. Sometimes in business, athletics, academics, and life, there are moments where it can seem that you have to take short cuts or cheat. The temptation can be great and it can seem like a very rewarding proposition. Those who live life with Integrity understand that in the long run there are no easy short cuts. In the long run, you will never achieve greatness with dishonest or unfair behavior. Every decision you make should be guided by doing what is right. If you do things right and hold yourself to the highest standards of integrity – you can become a Champion!

Refuse to Lose. Many businesses, organizations, and individuals try hard. Many want to win in whatever they do. Many compete. Many talk the talk of overcoming adversity. All of these things are nice, but they are not the same as having a Refuse to Lose mentality. When you put goals on paper and work hard to achieve them and absolutely Refuse to Lose in your heart every single minute of every single day – you can become a Champion!

The Family. Work, play, school – they are all important. However, balancing them with Family is critical to maximizing the value of mind, body, and spirit. When everyone you associate with in business, athletics, and academics is connected with your Family – then you have the ultimate balance and maximize value. If you can accomplish this – you can become a Champion!

Education. Continuing education and learning is essential to maximizing long term value of the mind, body, and spirit. When you stop learning, you stop having the ability to effect positive change. As we learned from Darwin, it is not the strongest or the smartest who will ultimately prevail – it is those who are the most willing to adapt and change. This is achieved through continually studying and learning and applying the lessons. If you are committed to a lifetime of learning – you can become a Champion!

Energy. One of Jack Welch’s Four E’s – energy is the ability to thrive on action and embrace change. Those with positive energy are optimistic – they don’t complain and don’t make excuses. When you have positive energy, you wake up in the morning ready to tackle and overcome the challenges that lie ahead. When you have positive energy, you rub off on others – people want to be associated with you – and you can become a Champion!

Net Present Value. In business, the goal is to maximize long-term shareholder value. This is the same goal in whatever you do in life – maximize long-term value. Value is not a multiple of EBITDA or Book Value or Earnings. Value is Net Present Value. The value of everything you do in life is the net present value of future results based on decisions you make every day starting now. What happened in the past is the past. You have to learn from it and possibly change – but your Value today is based on what happens in the future, not what happened in the past. If you understand this Net Present Value concept – and are committed to looking forward to the next play and embracing the future – you can maximize long term value and become a Champion!
